There are a few steps involved to get admission to a USA university. Do research on the requirements of the chosen university. Collect all the documents such as transcripts, LOR, SOP, standardized test scores etc. You can find the information from the university websites. Then apply and pay the application fee as required. Then wait for the acceptance letter from the university.
Bound by the student visa laws, you will not be eligible to work off-campus as you study in the USA. On campus, you can work for 20 hours a week and expect to earn 1000-2000 USD a year. This should be sufficient to pay for personal expenses, but not tuition or living fees. You can seek financial assistance while working part-time or interning through International Student Office, the catering department or the Library et al.
In general, you must have completed high school and you must be at least 17 years of age.
The average cost of tuition at a private university, including living cost, would be approximately US $50,000 per academic year without financial aid or scholarships. Further, the fee structure depends on whether you are studying in a state, public, or private university. There are three kinds of accommodation that a student may take up within the United States: On-campus accommodation, off-campus accommodation, or host-family accommodation- where the student may choose to live with a university-sponsored American family.
The academic year usually runs from August through May with breaks for holidays. Most universities use either the semester system (two terms), the quarter system (students attend three out of four total terms), or the trimester system (three terms).
Associate: a two-year program that either leads to a specific vocation or transitions to a bachelor program. Bachelor: a four or five-year program where students earn credits in a wide variety of courses.
Masters: two-year degree providing additional specialization. Doctorate: five to eight-year program certifying the student as a trained research scholar and/or professor.
